Top 3 nice to go places in Athens
These places, while interesting, may not be essential for all visitors. They generally lack the historical significance of other sites on our itinerary. Furthermore, their locations can be inconvenient, requiring extra travel time and effort. We recommend allocating at least 1 hour for each of these places (except the Academy). Therefore, we suggest exploring them independently if you have the time and flexibility.

Lycabettus Hill. Elevator under 10€
Rising above Athens, Lycabettus Hill offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city, stretching to the sea. A charming hike or elevator ride takes you to the top, where you’ll find the quaint St. George’s chapel and a cozy café. It’s perfect for sunsets and romantic moments. It’s located in a steep area and public transportation cannot go there. The best way is to walk there from Syntagma Square or get a taxi.

Phillopapou Hill. Free
This tranquil green escape near the Acropolis is steeped in history and charm. Wander through peaceful trails to the Philopappos Monument, an ancient tribute to a Roman senator. SNFCC. Free
The SNFCC is a modern cultural haven blending nature, art, and innovation. Home to Greece’s National Library and Opera, its eco-friendly design and stunning rooftop views captivate visitors. Stroll through lush gardens, attend performances, or simply relax by its scenic canal. It’s located near the sea so you can walk to the beach after your visit. You can also rent a bike from its parking to bike to the beach. Or from Tzitzifies take tram to the beach.
To get there, from Monastiraki metro get line 1 direction Piraeus. Disembark in Neo Faliro. Go upstairs. Continue straight. Cross the pedestrian bridge. Turn right. Take tram number 7 direction Voulas. Disembark in TziTzifies. Look forward you can see the building. Cross the street. Walk towards tram direction for 5 minutes. Turn left.

Bonus place: Academy of Athens. Free

You can get there from Monastiraki metro station line 1 (green color) direction Kifissia and disembark in Irini station. If you feel shopping, you can visit Athens shopping mall 1 stop after that.

With breathtaking views of Athens, it’s a peaceful escape perfect for leisurely strolls and capturing picture-perfect memories. When you are there, please avoid making noise. It’s a real and functional neighborhood that mostly senior citizens live there. To get there, go Acropolis then use Google Maps.
